Volume Calculations
Auditable cut, fill and stockpile volumes computed from a controlled surface with a stated confidence interval - the number your commercial team can put in a certificate.
- Volume accuracy
- 1-2% of true
- Stockpiles per flight
- 40+
- Basis surfaces
- Design, previous, best-fit
- Turnaround
- 24-48 hours
What it is
Defensible stockpile and earthwork quantities, month after month
Manual stockpile measurement means someone walking a pile with a GPS rover, taking a few dozen points and interpolating between them. A drone survey measures hundreds of thousands of points across the same pile in minutes, without anyone climbing an unstable slope.
The number itself is only useful if it is defensible. Every volume report we issue states the basis surface used, the toe definition method, the point density, the check point residuals and the resulting confidence interval - so when your quantity surveyor, auditor or client queries the figure, the answer is in the document.
For recurring measurement we lock the control network and the toe polygons on the first visit and reuse them every cycle. That removes the single largest source of month-to-month variance and makes consecutive reports genuinely comparable.
What you receive

- Cut and fill volumes against design or previous surface
- Colour-shaded cut/fill heat map
- Toe and crest polygons in DWG/SHP
- Period-on-period movement comparison
- Signed volume report with methodology and confidence interval

₹22,000per site visit
Single-day capture with volume report for up to 40 stockpiles within one site boundary.
How we deliver it
Our volume calculations workflow
Each step exists because skipping it shows up later as an error somebody else has to find.
Control lock-in
Permanent control marks are established on the first visit so every subsequent survey sits on the identical datum.
Capture
Nadir plus oblique passes, so pile flanks and undercuts are properly reconstructed instead of interpolated.
Toe definition
Toe breaklines are drawn on the model by a surveyor. This is the single biggest lever on the final number and we never leave it to an automatic filter.
Computation
Volumes computed against your chosen basis - design surface, previous survey, or a best-fit plane through the toe.
Review and issue
Independent second-person check, then a signed report with all assumptions documented.
Where it is used
Typical applications
- Monthly stockpile reconciliation for mines and quarries
- Earthwork interim payment certification
- Bulk material inventory for cement, coal and aggregate yards
- Landfill airspace and capacity monitoring
- Borrow pit depletion tracking

Sectors that commission this
On well-controlled surveys of clean, well-defined piles we consistently land within 1-2% of the true volume. Accuracy degrades with irregular toes, vegetation on the pile, and piles against walls or in pits - we flag those explicitly in the report rather than quietly absorbing the error.
